Wouldn't it be nice if Apple could create an iPod with built-in Airport?

Imagine being able to share an iPod's entire song library over an AirPort/Rendezvous network, without needing to connect it to a Mac.

Conversely, envision your iPod connecting directly to other shared iTunes and iPod music libraries via AirPort/Rendezvous.

Or better yet, I'd like to see the iPod operate as a stand-alone base station for any other iPod within range to connect to and listen in. Portable AirTunes, anyone?

The software features are already built into other Apple products and shouldn't be too hard to add to the iPod. The real hurdle would be putting 802.11g support into the iPod and maintaining an acceptable battery life.

It's just fun to speculate about what kind of possibilities lie ahead for iPods...

Check out the other threads, there is come speculation that something like this may happen to give functionality to being a remote for airtunes. Would be cool but the battery life thing would be the big hurdle. Don;t forget that a company was showing a device that gave the ipod bluetooth capabilty at MacWorld back in January and was supposed to be released by Apple. Apple asked them to stop and the product has disappeared other than being on the websire for ten technologies for a hort while. It has since disappeared form there too. I still have the pdf file for it.
