hello. i recently purchased an acomdata 160 gb 7200 rpm external firewire drive for the purpose of saving my pro tools files on it. like my other external drives, the instructions for this one said i needed no software installation (i have a g4, running 9.2.2). i can drag files on to the drive, but i cannot start a project in pro tools and save it to that drive. it says i have a disk error ("-120"?) and it can't write to it. my other drives, when i look at their format info, are listed as either "mac standard" or "mac extended," but this new drive is listed as "mac PC" something (sorry, i'm at work and don't have it in front of me). i just want to know how i can format this drive correctly, or if i'm doing something wrong with my daisy-chaining (it's the fourth in a line or four). i tried erasing the drive, but it doesn't ask me how i want to format it, so it never changes from the "mac PC" format. i just want to work off of this drive! please help! thanks so much.

A couple of ideas: Format the drive using Disk Utility (or whatever it was called in OS 9) as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended).

Also, I've had problems daisy-chaining FireWire drives (regardless of number) when doing DV editing/transfer. I'd suggest connecting the drive directly or using a hub.
