I got a used 19" Sony Trinitron monitor that I have hooked up to my 12" PBG4 (867MHz). Last night, when I first hooked it up, it gave me a whole bunch of resolutions and refresh rates, including 1344x1008 @ 100Hz (which I thought was perfect).

This morning, however, when I woke the machine up from sleep, the list of resolutions available was severely limited, with 1344x1008 not even on the list (the next best option being 1280x960 @ 90MHz). One difference between last night and this morning is that, now, the Displays control panel shows the monitor model as opposed to last night when it thought it was a generic CRT monitor.

Now, if I want to go back to 1344x1004, is it possible to force resolutions and refresh rates? Or otherwise make it ignore the list of resolutions it thinks is supported?

I don't know but it seems that the monitor doesn't support that resolution and it didn't recognize the monitor before so it gave all resolutions and you probably either had black lines on two of four sides or the image went slightly off the screen just choose one of the available resolutions

Sometimes there's an option to "show recommended" or "show all" resolutions in the display preferences. Perhaps you need to toggle the option. That's my only guess.

That's what I hoped at first, but unfortunately it doesn't give me that option...
