hi gang,

i know it's only a couple of hours before keynote but i personlly spoke with someone who is under nda and the question posed to him was:

if displays are announced today will they be available immediately?

his response was no they will not be available immediately.

i don't think he would lie about this and he wouldn't answer other questions but he knew i was planning on buying as soon as they came out and i think he felt like he wanted to save me a trip.

the source is a very casual acquaintance on the retail side.

i'm guessing he doesn't have a bunch of boxes with do not sell until x date on them.

this is the same person that told me about the g4 powermacs being reduced in price after the g5 intro and the amount of the reduction which i posted on macnn.

not much but all i got. i hope the displays are available soon.

Why don't we just wait an hour before we start guessing.

Where did you read "next month"? The MacRumors feed didn't mention a date.

August for the 30." (so you might get yours by Halloween!)

It's kind of hard to tell how big the 30" really is on the website. It towers over the 23" though, and that is already a big monitor.

it's unbelievable to me that the 20 or 23 inch monitor is not readyfor sale.

i can understand the 30 inch due to the graphics cards but why the wait for the other two.

they aren't even selling the older 20 or 23 inch so it's not like they are canibalizing sales.

i just don't get apple.
