I need to get a new computer monitor sometime. I saw an add for the viewsonic link to below and thought it sounded kind of cool. I have 2 computers(G5 DP1.8 and B&W 450) and a tv (for watching while on the treadmill) in my computer room. One of the computers is a server(G3) so i hardly ever have to use its monitor.
I was thinking that i could hook both computers to the viewsonic (one with DVI and one with VGA) and just use input select to change which i'm looking at. Then i could get rid of the tv in the room since the viewsonic has a built in tuner and speakers. Does this sound like it would work? Is this viewsonic monitor crap? cdw.com sells with for around $630. The max res is 1280x1024 which is fine for me (i play some games and also do things like edit videos, but just for fun, not pro style). Are there other brands that are simular in function?

thanks for the help,
-Dave

Good question. That would be nice if it has some kind of input switch. I studied the specs and couldn't figure it out. Seems like a call to Viewsonic is in order. While you're at it, tell them the specs for the resolution are wrong. 1280x1024 can't be right for a 16x9 display. Seems like a sweet display!

It's 1280x768. I think it would do all the things you're asking, though I would personally be annoyed with only 768 vertical pixels when I'd spent that much money.

I found the Samsung below. Its a 19 inch, not widescreen. It says its 1280x1024. It has picture in picture so i'd imagine it would be able to swtich between the inputs (mainly tv, dvi and vga). Couple hundered more than the viewsonic but probably worth it for the size increase.

Sceptre makes a number of LCD screens w/ TV tuners:

PS. Looks like all widescreen LCD/TVs are 1280x768. Even the larger 30-40" ones.
