yup. are there battery life differences? I believe the scroll wheel is different, though i don't know for certain..for example there are 2nd generation 20G units as well as 3rd..that implies that something must be different, i'm just not sure what 8-)

Second generation had the buttons around the scroll wheel. Third generation has the buttons above the scroll wheel. I prefer my second generation, but that's what I'm used to.

The biggest difference, besides the different button locations, is that the 3rd Gens introduced a new Dock Connector port for hooking up to a computer, power, accessories, etc. Check here for more:

After using both, the dock is the best feature! Just drop it on to sync, and pick it up to go!
