I'd like to reposition my computer to be more practicle for myself, but to do so I'm going to need longer firewire, USB, and monitor cables (DVI). Are there maximimum length restrictions I need to keep in mind, or will pretty much anything go?
Firewire is spec'd at 15' max. That said, you can get longer cables, but you have to look around a bit.Gefen makes some nice FW cables and extenders/repeaters. Gefen also makes quality DVI extenders. FW repeaters go between FW cables and work very well. They do not require a power source. Another good brand for FW repeaters is OrangeMicro.
