Of my many years as a Mac user, this is one of my most bizarre problems.
On night, after buying some .AAC songs from the Apple Music Store, I got a strange error message from iTunes which read something like this:
"Certain files, like [insert song name] will not be copied because they cannot be played on this ipod" (my words)
Which was obviously strange because I've never had this problem before. After I received this error, none of my .AAC files (not even ones I ripped from my own CDs) would play through iTunes, even though THEY WOULD PLAY IN THE FINDER with no problem.
I tried a couple of things:
- trashing my prefs, iTunes library file, etc.
- reinstalling iTunes
- reinstalling Quicktime
- Wiping and reinstalling all iPod software
- deauthorizing my computer
- re-adding all of my music back into iTunes
None of this worked. .AAC files would still play in the finder(they could even be re-authorized).
Even stranger, .AAC files will no longer import into iTunes
Anyone have any suggestions?
