I have a 733mhz quicksilver G4. I want to buy a superdrive for it and I'm wondering what kind are in the new power mac G5's. I remember seeing them for like 75 bucks somewhere but I can't find them now. If someone knows where they are sold or what model they are please let me know.

The Pioneer 107 is natively supported in 10.3.4. Esbuy.com has good prices. Details on drive support is very complete at xlr8yourmac.com user's reports.

I performed an upgrade to the Pioneer 105 last year on my Quicksilver 800 DP and had absolutely no problems. (Well, except for trying to figure out how the old drive came out. I would assume that your's is the same as mine; I started to try to take off the front, since this is how some other models work, but it turns out you just undo the bracket inside.) After I got it installed, everything worked great. You then have to jump through a few hoops to install DVD Player since it only installs if you have a Super drive, which you didn't when your OS was installed. I used a bit of shareware (can't remember the name) to isolate the Package from on the install discs, which worked great.

Good luck.

Actually, the 107 is supported from 10.3.3 I read
I just put one in my eMac (which i kept on 10.3.3), and so long as the drives firmware is up to date (more or less) it works perfectly just as a stock superdrive would, with native burning in all the Apple bundled apps.
It's a great drive and doesnt cost much..
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.
