I called today and asked when the new 23" Cinema Displays would be in stock and to my surprise they told me they had them in today. I went over to my local Apple Store, White Plains, NY, and picked one up. I was shocked how light the box was and almost pulled my shoulder out of it's socket when I picked the box up by the handle with more of an expectation of weight to it .

When I got it home I realized the box it comes in is actually smaller than my "old" 20" one. It is a little thicker but the old box was taller and wider. When you open the box there is a little rectangular white cardboard box containing the documentation and a small grey micro-fiber cleaning cloth as well. Nice touch.

I went to the Twelve Oaks/Novi Michigan store tonight. They had two 23" on display but none in stock. While there I checked my e-mail to check on the status of my 23" display and airport express. Unfortunately I received the dreaded e-mail telling me the airport won't ship until tomorrow. It was supposed to ship today.

I did though have fun playing with the iSight cameras and the 23" displays. I can't wait until it arrives. I was very impressed with the clarity of the display and the real estate.

I can't wait to see 2 30 inchers hooked up to a G5 in the apple store. I haven't been for awhile now that I think of it. I have to go see these things. Anyone know if they have the 2.5 G5's in yet?

Some photos of the new 23" as well as some comparing the old 20" and new 23". Forgive the quality - taking pix of displays is never really a true indicator of what they will look like in person.

The old 20" has only been marked down by $100 at MacConnection. Doesn't seem worth the savings unless you need ADC.
