I have a small office with two PowerBooks. I need a good quality B&W Laser Printer, preferably with space for letterhead and second sheets. I'd like it to be Postscript although I am not sure how much this matters any more. Most of my printing will be from InDesign.

I'd like to be able to plug in directly to EtherNet or, alternatively, have it on some sort of Airport wireless. I'd prefer HP I think.

What does everyone suggest?

I guess it really depends on your price range. I wanted the same thing, but didn't want to spend much, so I bought a used Apple LaserWriter 16/600.

Has ethernet, Postscript, etc and an engine rated at 450,000 pages.

I bought it because I heard they are built like tanks and last a long, long, long time.

Virtually all of Apple's laser printers were HPs...

I'm not so sure. I thought a company called GCC grew out out of Apple's line.

http://gccprinters.com/

Had a GCC for four years. Great printer.

No.

Most of the Apple printer (especially the earlier ones) were based on Canon engine. (But it doesn't mean it's a re-badged Canon or HP printer, they used their laser engine but Apple design the logic board, driver etc).

Yes.
True, Apple uses Canon printer engines, but so does HP.
My LaserWriter NTX was `compatible' to my LaserJet III, same Canon engine, 300 dpi, 8 ppm.

I have a HP LaserJet 2100TN which matchs your needs (good quality B&W Laser Printer, with space for letterhead and second sheets) but it is out of the market yet, so you would take a look at the HP LaserJet 2300 line.

I've been using the HP 2200 for the past 2 years and it's been a true workhorse. I'd second the suggestion to check out the 2300.
