Hi all,
I'm eagerly awaiting reports of how the new 20 and 23" displays handle FPS games. Anyone out there have any performance reports? What video cards are you using?
I'm eager to get the 23 for my PC setup, but I'd like to hear some performance reports before doing so. I really appreciate it.

I was just playing UT2k4 at the full rez of 1920x1200 on my new 23" and it seems very very good. I'm using a dual 2.0 G5 with an OEM Radeon 9800 Pro. My old 20" was very good but the new one seems to have a little less chop to it. Apple states that these new displays are 16ms LCD's which mean they are more than able to do gaming and fast video. If you have any worries just go to an Apple Store and try one. If they don't have any games on the demo Macs just ask them to dl a demo of UT2k4 or some other fps and check for yourself.
Some other LCD may have a higher contrast ratio or luminance rating but I have to say that with my own very discriminating eyes as judges, I don't think I have ever seen better color quality, brightness ( I can't run the 23" anywhere near it's max brightness w/o hurting my eyes), uniformity across the entire display (which I think is paramount). There is nothing I hate more than screens with dark corners or one where you move your head an inch in the wrong direction and the image degrades. The viewing angle is very very good too. If you have the money I think it would be a tough display to beat but don't take my word for it, go see one for yourself.

I played Call of Duty, UT 2004, and Halo for about 4 hours over 2 days at the gaming pavilion at WWDC. It was 23" Cinemas on dual 2.0 G5's. I didn't notice any ghosting whatsoever, so it seemed fine.
This was with the old 23's, btw. I can't imagine the new ones are any slower. I actually think I heard that the 30" displays refresh rates were published (unlike in the past) and I heard 15 ms. But I haven't verified.
At any rate, they're good enough for gaming, in my experience.

I couldn't detect any ghosting at all in UT2k4 playing ONS. I ran it at 1920x1200 and yes the DVI port was used - the new displays are only DVI not ADC.

If these are in fact 16ms displays you shouldn't have any ghosting issues what so ever! I personally have a samsung 191T (19") running off my Radeon 9800pro on my PC and it's a 25ms display and there is no ghosting that I can detect. I sure that 23inch is a beauity, I would say definitely go for it if you have the money. The older 23s were great screans, the new ones should be even better!
On a side note, does anyone know where apple buys their LCDs from? I had heard that it was rumored that samsung made them? I know that samsung does have a 23" LCD in their line, I was just wondering if they were practically the same?
