I have just sold my PC and have a new Powerbook on the way. I have a few questions about my Ipod making this switch, and any advice would be much appreciated:
Note: I backed up all the original AAC files on to my external Hard drive before I sold my PC, so I have them available.
How do I re-set/re-format the Ipod to use it with the Mac, and then load my music AAC files back on to it?
Do I need to download any new software or will the preloaded Itunes do this for me?
Thanks in advance - Mr Mushroom

Download the iPod updater from the Apple website (the Mac version), which will allow you to format your iPod for your mac when it is connected.
You can import your music files into iTunes on your powerbook, then hook up your iPod and away you go
(There are ways to preserve your playlists etc from your previous setup, but I don't personally know how to do that).

I like Mr. Mushroom am in almost an identical situation.
Another Question though...
Some other post on this board said if you move all your music onto the ipod via drag and drop in windows explorer(simply as a hard disk), you can just connect it to a mac and drag and drop the folders right onto the mac.
I too will be getting a pb very soon and have backed up all my files using the ipod as simply a hard disk.
Is this true, or will plugging my ipod into a mac need to format the ipod, thus erasing all my files??
Thanks for the replies/sorry if this has been covered.

You don't need to reformat the iPod - Macs are clever enough to be able to read from Windows (FAT32) formatted disks. (But you can reformat it if you wish).
In fact, you can leave all your music on the iPod, and then use one of many software utilities to import all your music and playlists onto your new Mac. Search on macupdate.com or versiontracker.com.
