Hey guys,

I just received my 4G 40GB iPod yesterday. I charged it up and loaded my music library into it and it seemed to be fine. However, now that I'm at work, it won't turn on no matter what I do! I tried to reset it ( hold down menu + play, right?) but to no avail. Is there anything else to try?

Oh, and if it is dead, will I be able to exchange it at a physial Apple Store (assuming they have one in stock) or do I have to ship it back to Apple for a replacement? I bought it online at the Apple Store.

I would think that a nice person at the store will replace it with no problem!

I only ask because I made the same mistake with mine when it was new... Did you check the "hold" button?

Yeah the hold button wasn't on. Well, I used the hold button when I put the iPod in my bag but turned it off before using. Perhaps the hardware got stuck in the hold position.

Another thing is that on the click wheel, since you can't tilt it both down and up at the same time, the reset command is now the "Menu" and the center button held at the same time. You probably weren't actually holding down both the "Play" and "Menu" buttons at the same time - I don't think it's possible with the click wheel.
