How strange is this....

4 products I had previously ordered from the Apple Canada Online store had shipping dates pushed back due to product delays. Most recently, a 40GB Clickwheel iPod I ordered last Monday had the ship date pushed back by 5 days. I ordered a Pink iPod Mini the morning they appeared on the Apple Canada Online store (2-3 weeks ago) and had a ship date of August 18th. I checked yesterday and that was still the ship date specified.

This morning, I was in a Toronto Best Buy and they had 5-6 iPod Mini's in stock. I was shocked as most other resellers had told me "September" so I purchased a Pink one and came home to cancel my online order. Imagine my shock when I saw that my order had shipped this morning so I now have a second iPod mini on the way...

No big deal - that is what E-Bay is for - I doubt it will cost me more than a few bucks to sell the second one brand new in the box...

A little disappointed with the Pink mini when I opened it. It had the sticky substance on the click-wheel which I have since almost removed. It gave me a couple of strange messages when I first connected it to iTunes and for a minue, I thought I had wiped out my entire 6200 song library. It seems OK now though and I have connected it about 5 times since with no problems.... My green iPod mini (purchased 8 weeks ago on E-Bay) had neither of these issues...

Last comment - my "Pink" iPod mini looks more like purple to me. If it was sold as a purple, I would have accepted it. My green on is much brighter than the pictures on the website but the pink one is a little darker - strange.

My gf ordered the same product on the same day, the only exception being with the educational discount. It is also still quoted with a shipping date of Aug. 18th. The news that yours shipped already though gives us hope it'll arrive sooner than expected.

Computer Systems Centre also apparently has plenty in stock in all colours. Too bad you can't buy stuff there with educational discounts. I've been checking campus stores and they are mostly either closed today, or simply not in stock yet.

Great: purple is her favorite colour ;-)

All in all, I'm glad that minis are trickling into Canada as they should be. I became a lil wary earlier in the week when UK/Euro customers started having theirs shipped already. I just wish orders placed with Apple here had more accurate ship estimates.
