I'm going on a two day trip taking my replaced 4g ipod and my digital camera for photos. I'm thinking about buying the belkin media reader but does anyone know if it's compatible with the new 4g? I'd rather not haul my 17" and it's of no use to download photos when I'm on the go.

Well, I'm sure it does work, but, that Media Reader is not very good. Belkin also makes a Camera to iPod transfer device that has received much better reviews. Consequently, it is sold out on the online store. The other thing is still in stock.

The media reader sucks your battery down like you wouldn't believe. I thought maybe it was just the one I had, but I returned it and read around online and it wasn't just me. Lot of discussion over on dpreview.com about this as well. I was hoping to use my iPod as a backup, but no can do.

You are much better off buying a dedicated portable HDD/media reader (I know there was a Yahoo shop that specialized in it). Basically you stick the media card in and it dumps the pics, then you hook it to your Mac/PC later and dump them down to your system.
