I haven't actually seen the new apple displays 'in the flesh' yet, But I am already getting mad excited.

I need to update from my dual CRT setup soon, and will do as soon as the apple displays drop in the UK- more to the point, as soon as the London Apple Store opens in November

Just wondering if a dual 20" setup will suffice? I have a 20" mitsubishi CRT and it's amazing. I do a lot of illustration and layout work, and I often need to preview a double A4 spread in actual size on one monitor.

Is this possible with the 20" cinema displays? They look like they are a different shape to normal CRT monitors...

I'm hoping I can get away with a set of 20"s... But I may need to shell out for 23's...

anybody seen a pair of either of these together?

I do illustration too - nothing eats up screen real estate like those Photoshop palettes, and I'll often have Cinema4D and illustrator on the go simuoltaneously as well I've got a pair of 23" on order from Apple as we speak... a good way to decide is to create a canvas in Photoshop at the height of each model's resolution and twice the width (for dual). Slap a screen snapshot in there and you'll have a feel for just how much extra real estate each setup will provide. I haven't seen the new monitors in person yet, but from what I've seen in digital photos and such, the 23" seems like just the right size for what I'm doing.

Wow!

Thanks man, for a very helpful answer.

I'll do that and have a play around. Just until I get the chance to see the displays for real....

Do you think the Applestore will let me set a couple up and mess around?

The new screens are beautiful. But the 23" is quite a bit bigger, it is hard to tell at first, but once you play with each screen, you can tell there is a difference.
