Okay, my Dad bought an SB Extigy for his PC a while ago and hasn't used it yet. I wondered if it would work on my iBook so I could get an audio input...
...long story -> short, with headphones plugged into the Extigy and the Extigy selected as the Output in the Sound Prefs, iTunes plays out (or should I say "rocks out", mmm iTunes) through the headphones. So that works.
Problem: When I have my iPod plugged into the Line In on the Extigy, it shows up as an input in System Preferences>Sound and has the blue bars going across the screen which respond to me pausing the iPod. So that should work, but there is no sound out from anywhere, not my Internal Speakers, not my Headphones plugged into the iBook, not my Headphones plugged into the Extigy's headphone port (and I have made sure that I am selecting the correct Output device for the sound).
So here's my question, how do I get the audio from the Extigy's input (currently my iPod), which is being recognised in System Prefs, out of my iBook as sound?
I think I would have been happier if, as I was expecting, this thing didn't work at all with my mac.
