Just got my new 4G iPod to replace my 3rd gen iPod. Both sets of head phones (old and new) have blown out the left earbud! I dont listen to loud music at all, nor heavy bass music.
Are the headphones under any type of warranty?
What shuold I buy to replace them? Your choice!
Anyone else have trouble with these things??
thanks, BTW love the new pod!

Get a pair of Sony Fontopias. Sony's been making headphones for alot longer than Apple. I love my EX51LP's.

Diddo on the Fontopia, get them and never look back. I would go to a local Apple store and ask them to replace the original buds though. That way if you decide to sell them you could sell those buds with them instead of the Fontopia's should you choose to buy them still.

I've dropped my 10GB iPod earbuds in water (well, more like generously splashed them at a water fountain when they fell out of my ears -_- ) and they still work as good as the day I got my iPod. I've been surprised to hear about people blowing theirs out.

I'm on my third pair since I bought my 1g iPod. They seem to last about a year for me. Though mine tend to die from some physical defect or other in the cord. I see it as a fair life span since I listen to my iPod all the time (espically exercising and gardening which can be tough on them). On the bright side, every time they come out with a new innovation (the remote or in ear model that I have now) I don't have to feel guilty about buying them. Fortunately, my iPod has held up much better!
Cheers!

One year seems like a fair life span? I've had cheaper headphones last for many years with several hours of use for almost every day. What would you say if a Microsoft product "happened" to break down just in time for the next "innovation"?

seems like for the worlds #1 MP3 player, they should include good headphones. I have some $8 ones that sound even better but I just dont like how they fit me. (Not that the earbuds fit me either)

I'm pretty hard on them. What amazes me is that the iPod keeps ticking. I took a spill on my bike a couple of months ago at 20+ Mph onto the pavement. The headphones were knocked right out of my head, but the beat went on.
Cheers!

Headphones are very personal. You either care about them and buy good ones, or you don't care and use whatever cheap ones come in the box.

The iPod earbuds that came with my 3rd Gen. device just died in one ear, although I don't remember which now. I bought these Apple-branded in-ear headphones as a replacement and am somewhat disappointed.

If you jam them deep into your ear, they sound fine (to me, a non-audiophile). However, they fall out so easy and just won't stay in. I've tried two of the three sizes of little rubberized covers, but even the smallest ones -- which feel great -- won't stay in.
I miss the fit of the original earbuds, but I guess when you try something new, sometimes you get burned.
