When my ipod is paused, I can't change the volume with the buttons on the remote. Of course i can change the volume with the wheel. I

I just got a replacement remote, so I'm not totally sure I'm remembering the behavior correctly. My iPod is a mini btw, if that changes anything.

thanks, i actually rediscovered this when I realized I still had my old broken remote (buttons still worked, audio was fritz)..

Now onto the question...why?

I dunno, it seems to make a little sense to be able to adjust the volume before playing. Of course the problem is when you're turning up the volume on the remote, you're probably not looking at the screen, so you wont be able to see where the volume is currently set. but if it's playing, you know where the volume is by hearing it.

Just needed to explain it to myself.
