Yes, That's what I'm looking for,
I have done a search on this board and the overwealming response was for the Epson Stlus photo 2200, but that costs 700$
any other suggestions or comments are appreciated
Thanks,
J

I'm pretty happy with my Canon i9900 I just bought. Good photo prints (I dunno about text, I have a different printer for that) and extremely fast. Ink usage appears to be extremely low, too. Plus it is ~$200 cheaper then the Epson 2200 which is a much older model.

The epson r800 is a smaller version of the 2200. I would look into that and it is resonably priced at around $400 or so.

I've had a Canon i9900 for about a week now, and have been very happy with the photo quality and speed. Its a big step up from the HP Photosmart 7550 that used to be my main printer.

For the Canon i9900 owners - how are the OS X drivers? Reasonably complete?

The OS X drivers are great. The printer integrates well with iPhoto too.
Unlike my HP, there is no long pause before printing starts.

When looking at large format printers, I considered reputation and quality only. Speed and price were of less importance. For years, the Epson 1280 was a the top of everyone's list. I, therefore, chose the Epson 2200. It's perfect.
