The B&W G3 isn't supported for any of these iPods. Is there a way to get it to recognize the iPod as a FW disk or get iTunes support?

Has anyone worked around it by using a 3rd party PCI Firewire card? Or is there a another way? I'd like to hear from someone who's gotten a new iPod to work with this older mac, because I have the opportunity to turn my old B&W into a storage location for my iTunes library which has outgrown my Ti-Book, but the 3G iPod refuses to mount on the G3, obviously.

The B&W G3 should work with all 3G, 4G, and mini iPods. It is officially supported, but all those iPods require 10.2 or later. They won't work with OS 9. However, the B&W G3s are known to sometimes have flaky Firewire ports because Firewire was brand new when they were released. It's very possible that your Firewire is just not working right. Do you have any other Firewire devices to try out? It might be a good idea to just get a Firewire PCI card, as it'll be more reliable than the built-in Firewire.
