what's the verdict so far, if any, on how the new sidekick is with os x? i have t-mobile and a t68i which works flawlessly in os x, but the sidekick is sweet! i doubt I'd be able to get one any time soon, but just wanted to know if they have made any improvements over the last iteration since i heard those did not work well with the Mac...
Thanks

it's doable, markspace has a product for the sidekick/hiptop. the only problem is Danger and their carriers (T-mobile, Fido, etc.). from markspace missingsync for hiptop page:

Release Update: The Missing Sync for hiptop software has been completed and tested and awaits server changes being made by Danger and their carriers before it can be made available. Previous goals for these server changes suggested a targeted Missing Sync ship date in February 2004, but we have been notified that these server changes have not yet been completed. Unfortunately, the release date for the Missing Sync for hiptop will be delayed until Danger and their carriers have made the necessary preparations. Each Danger hiptop carrier will decide if and when they plan to support PIM synchronization. The first carrier to support synchronization will be T-Mobile, with the other hiptop carriers to possibly follow. We apologize for the inconvenience and will announce availability on the Missing Sync for hiptop email discussion list as new information is made available.

so that's the story behind no sync with the current sidekick. as for the sidekick II, it's widely been known that sync will be available via Intellisync software (which i'm guessing is windows only). however, that means PIM sync will be enabled, and most likely, markspace can ship their product.

here's some sites of interest:

i don't really care about sync personally, but if it's available, then i'd probably use it. i have a color sidekick right now, and i can honestly say this is damn good device. it does all i want: email, AIM, web browsing, SSH...can't wait for the new one to come out. i'll definitely be trading up.
