I recently installed HP's new drivers for my HP All-In-One 1210v, but now the silly HP Director (All-In-One) application automatically starts-up at logon. You can remove the application from the Login Items and that will stop it from automatically launching, but if you've removed the icon from the Dock, the Dock will be restarted and the icon will be replaced at every startup.

Does anyone have any clue where I might look for the process that's doing this?

It's really starting to piss me off. There's no excuse for any application to behave this way. I think you need to make things easy for most people, but this is crazy -- just taking over.

With HP Director open, go to the Preference menu and uncheck the 'Activate at log in'.

I've done that. That just prevents the application from starting. I've unchecked that box. I've removed the application from Login Items.

My problem is that I cannot remove the icon from the Dock. Every time I remove it, it is restored at startup. The application isn't launched, the icon is just placed back in the Dock.

For anyone else having this problem, the solution per HP is to rename or relocate the "Director Docker" application that is nested in the Hewlett Packard folder.

What launches Director Docker is beyond me. The whole concept and the fact that it's completely undocumented seems rather disagreeable.
