It seems that every few months, a new iPod hits the market (and the crowds go wild). All the while, the iPod Mini model remains suspiciously consistent -- what's going on, guys?

It's hard enough to find a Mini in most places (across the globe). No reason to release anything new until the current supply begins to wane.
Besides, rumors say the Mini is about to get a software update giving it 4G options, which is huge.
Other than more colors, no sense releasing a new Mini this year.

indeed, people have been waiting months for current ones. how would they feel if apple announces a new one and they'd have to wait even longer for that? backorders are starting to fill, though, and you can find some colors in stock occasionally. they still sell fast, though.

perhaps new colors.

But no more mini's.

Just changing the shell I'd guess.

Perhaps 'special edition'.

I'd guess:

Black
ALuminum
