Hi All,

Well, I've got the beta of Skype (p2p voip software, pretty impressive) and for the first time ever I need a mic.

Unfortunately, none from that ancient collection of Mac mics I dug out of my "big box 'o cables" will work. And yes, I'm aware of the need for pre-amp voltage, which the PlainTalk mic has, but wrong plug :-/

Any suggestions? (I'm glad I did some research on this first, I was just going to run down to my local computer store and get a cheapo PC boom mic)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

I'm going to get this mic for my G5; a little pricey, but it looks great:

Just an update: I got a micflex and it's really an excellent product, I can't recommend it highly enough (sound is good, ergonomics just fantastic!)

Excellent customer service from MacMice too.

Get a Bluetooth headset maybe, if it meets your needs. Wireless and easy to use with OS X. I use one for iChat audio and video feeds. Works quite well.

Though you may need a BT dongle, and they do run like $75.

I thought of a BT headset, but OSX users have been reporting problems with Skype (VOIP software) and BT mics. A USB mic seemed the better way to go, and I'm glad I tracked down the MicFlex.

btw: I have BT built in to my G5 (save on that dongle :-)
