My Mac won't recognize my external Lacie firewire drive. Any steps I can take short of reformatting the drive with a utility such as disk warrier??

There are reports on various sites about LaCie drives not being recognized. I took my Pioneer dvd burner out of a LaCie case for the same reason, put it in an ADS case and it now works fine. Apple says they're looking into the problem, but who knows? Perhaps LaCie can come up with a fix.

I upgraded to the latest firmware version avalilable from the Lacie website but the drive is still not mounted by either OSX or OS9. OSX gives me the message "this drive contains no volumes that OSX can read."

HELP!!

While trying to run disk utility I got the following messages: "disk utility stopped verifying "disk1s6" because the following error was encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit"

While it was checking the volume "disk1s6" the message reads:
Catalog file entry not found for extent
The volume needs to be repaired.

Volume check failed.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)

Does anyone know if I can save the data on this drive and make it readable again. I had a similar problem with an older model Lacie drive and had to reformat using Disk Warrier.

If you have DiskWarrior, run it (don't format the drive, DW doesn't do that, anyway). It should be able to fix the problem.
