None of the TV tuners/TVR's out there can support digital cable (correct?). Therefore I will be controlling the channels with my cable box (I would only get limited channels using the tuner on the computer). Do I need a TV tuner with TVR to record shows to my hardrive? Is there a cheaper solution (i.e. an analog to digital converter) that will allow me to record from my TV to my hard drive?

Thanks!

As far as I understand Digital cable is a bit like DirectTV (digital satellite subscription TV) in US, you need a set-up box with CI card for each TV set, because it is all encrypted (unlike analog cable TV in US, which is unencrypted).

Therefore, the only you have is to use the video out or analog antenna output of your set-up box, and connect it to the TV tuner/TVR of your PC etc.
