Anyone have any experience with this keyboard? I saw it at CompUSA today and I thought it looked quite nice and felt good when I typed on it. Anyone use this one ever? I think it's similar to MMacAlly iceKey.

Thanks

I have no experience with that particular keyboard, but I do with the Macally IceKey. It has scissor keys just like a laptop, and it's really, really slim. It's the best damn keyboard I've ever owned. I'd suggest checking it out—I believe they have them at CompUSA.

Actually, I own both. I really like the feel of the Kensington, but the full size layout of the icekey serves me better as I touch type and the smaller, misplaced keys (delete, home, pgup, pgdn, end, etc) usually mess me up.

Strangely, when I'm typing on my laptop, which shares the kensington layout, I don't have problems. strange.

Regardless, if you can deal with the layout of the keys and won't miss a fullsized layout, I go with the Kensington. The keys are a bit quieter and have a touch of texture to them that seems to help with typing.

I would like to say however, that I really enjoy my icekey and that it's my everyday keyboard.

Regards

Does the Kensington Slim Type have additional USB ports? I think this would make a great keyboard for the mac mini. Kensington is currently selling it in a bundle with their Mouse in a Box optical mouse for $40.

I've been looking at getting the kensington slim type, but now the macally ice key comes up... as far as price goes, the kensington is the better deal, but is the ice key worth spending a little extra on?

And the kensignton website says nothing about extra usb ports on the slim type. So, I'll assume that there are no additional usb ports on this keyboard... is this assumption correct?

I have the ICEKey. It has the feel of a top-notch portable computer keyboard. It is very thin and light. The keyboard action is akin to typing on an iBook or PowerBook, only better and with a more substantial feel.

If you prefer the older mechanical switch computer keyboards then the ICEkey probably isn't for you. I have found that I prefer the relatively short-throw of portable Mac keyboards; when I use one of our old Mac keyboards they feel rather cludgy in comparison. It seems to take more effort to type and I type slower too.

But since keyboard preference is so subjective, I would recommend testing any keyboards you can prior to purchase, or buy it somewhere that will allow you to exchange or return it if it doesn't work out for you.

I have the Kensington, and indeed it has no USB ports.

So yessir, it has no USB ports?

I have an IceKey, and I have recently pushed it aside for an Apple Bluetooth keyboard. I love the key action on the Ice, but the flat profile is starting to wear on me, so I went for the raised and angled Bluetooth board. The action is a bit softer, but I find my speed and accuracy are increased since I make more of a conscious effort to hit the keys.

Hope this helps versus muddying the waters.

The IceKey has two retractable tabs on the bottom if you prefer a slight angle to the keyboard.

Did you miss that feature, or did it not work well enough for you?
