I've been wanting this one for a while and am going to skip the k700 to get this puppy instead.

And a rather silicone picture sample.

attractiveness of the model aside that's still a pretty horrid picture. picture quality does not scale linearly with megapixel count, especially in this case.

ok. sounds fair. btw...what size of mem cards are people going to be adding for 1.3 meg cams?

can a good size mem card be had for $100 or so?

the higher rez will be eating up your storage.

I think the best camera phone you can get is probably this one:

1.3 Megapixel camera as well, with nicer colors than the SE above, though a tad blurry at 1280x960; it does MPEG-4 videoas well.

Comes with a 32MB data card (exchangable up to 512MB, currently). (My Mac SE finally got upgraded to a whopping 2.5MB in 1990...I find this amazing.)

Rave reviews and camera samples:

I get to renew my contract on Nov. 4th, and this will definitely be my next phone.

Specs say 60 to 250h/2-6hours. 750mAh battery.

Siemens' specs are pretty realistic IME; battery life drops markedly on my S55 when I have Bluetooth enabled, though.

Internal memory is 11MB, btw.

Um, the S700i is only rated at 300 hours MAX with a 780mAh battery. I presume Siemens will be offering a higher-powered extra battery eventually; they have for the S65's predecessors.

Also, the "60 to 250 hours" figure is not from the sales Specs; it's from the manual, in the section where they have a table of exactly how much a minute of whatever type of usage will shave off standby time.

The 60 hours is the MINIMUM, probably assuming you're playing the hardcore 3D racing game all the time, with Bluetooth enabled and brightness on maximum level.

Under those circumstances, the S700i will look very similar, I'm sure.

Just found a 1000mAh Li-polymer battery for €17,50 (about US$20) that should push the Siemens up to about 320 hours.

http://www.siemensinfo.de/modules.ph...amp;modell=S65

For the price difference between the S700i (cheapest I could find online:€670) and the S65 (€320), you could get yourself FOUR of those Li-polymer batteries AND a dual-charger dock (€10) AND the camera add-on flash (€22) AND TWO 512MB RS-MMC memory cards (€129 each), bringing you up to 1500 hours stand-by, over a gigabyte of memory, and a vastly more flexible camera - all in a phone without a fault-prone hinge.

Suddenly doesn't look so bad now, does it?

Too bad the Siemens *65* got such a bad press lately with their faulty software.. Currently it is impossible to find a single *65* on display here, they had all to be sent in.

Has the navigation improved on the siemens phones? I had one as a business phone (C35 IIRC) and that was horrible, 'yes' and 'no' changed randomly from left to right..aargh!

The S35 was the business version of that generation.

And it didn't change "randomly"; it flipped only on potentially destructive actions, so that the default button you're used to hitting was "Cancel" instead of "Ok". I thought that was pretty brilliant, actually, once I figured out where it was happening.

I've always much preferred the larger Siemens' (S-series) navigation to Nokia's.

Especially with all the different user-definable shortcuts and stuff. The S55 is a lot better than the Sony-Ericssons I've had the misfortune of fiddling with, as well.

Another reason I'm sticking with Siemens: no-questions-asked, phone-exchanged-for-refurbished-one-at-your-doorstep warranty. I don't know about S-E, but that compares EXTREMELY favorably to *everything* I've ever heard about Nokia service.
