Hi guys I have 2 firewire drives hooked up to my PB 1Ghz 10.3.5
The two cases I'm using is the Sky Master 'Metal Gear Box - substance' combo.
One is the 120Gb limited the other is newest with the blue lights.

Both drives will mount separately but not at the same time. Since they are connect to a PB which has only 1 firewire port they have to be connect through each other.

I have played around with all possible combinations of how they could be plugged in also throwing another external burner in to the mix but only one will mount. Also played with jumper combos but no dice.

Any ideas?

I would really like to be able to get both mounted at the same time.

Would a firewire hub help? That way they would not be attached to each other?
I don't really want to get a PCIMA (spelt right?) card. This would be last resort.

thanks

Does the cable you are using to go between the two drives work? Check it with one of the drives.

I'm not sure on this but...
Is it even possible to daisy-chain two 3.5 inch drives?
I know I can do this with two 2.5 inch drives plus my iPod, but maybe the 3.5 inch drives need more power. If this is right then a powered firewire hub would be the answer.

I have a similar problem. Mine mounts most of the time but is flaky. So I just resolved use one at a time or probaby just buy a firewire hub in the future. My suspect is my bridgeboard is not that good (its not an Oxford chipset). And my other problem is, it does not work efficiently with partitioned drives (but do work well as a single partition/volume).

I have two firewire drives and have noticed that the only way the farther drive can mount is if the first drive is also getting power. I can't remember if the first drive has to be mounted or not but it definetely needs to be getting power (both of my drives have power switches), I can't say if you can chain the drives if they are bus powered (like for a 2.5" drive).

So power up both drives and give it a shot. Then mount both drives (closer one first) and see what happens.

Thanks for the replys guys

The 2 drives are powered and I have tried about 4 different firewire cables.
I know at work we have 2 firewire HDD and a Burner all running off the one firewire port.
But I guess these are good cases (Sarotech Hardbox) and the ones I have doesn't pass on enough power, maybe?

I can have my MiniDV camera running through one with no probs and capture to it. hmmm puzzling.

Thanks for your time, much appreciated
