im looking at getting a digital camera. i go to college here in West Virginia, and i want to capture the nesscrazy on film so i can remember my drunken nights. so the things im looking for in a camera are as follows: good price (100-200), small size, decent battery life, very durable, and all around good camera. so far i think my best bet is the konica minolta x31... im looking for any suggestions on why this is a good/bad choice, and any better choices anyone knows of.

thanks for any suggestions,

Get the Nikon 3700. $154 at Butterfly photo [despite $399 MSRP]. I think this is the most amazing deal going. Just got minein the mail today. Tiny like an elph but with better movie mode.

I have a Canon PowerShot A60. This is a very inexpensive camera that still has a lot of features. Movie mode is just 320x240, but it's a digital camera, not a camcorder, so that's good enough. Just the right size. Lots of manual controls. 3x zoom lens. It's just 2MP, not super high, but there's a 3MP version for a bit more. Anyway, this camera is just $150 even at Target, and you know how mainstream retail stores overcharge for things like this. I bet you could find it for $120 or so at various places online. The only thing is you'll have to get a larger memory card as well as a set of four AA NiMH rechargeable batteries and a charger for them. It comes with non-rechargeables, which just doesn't make sense in a digital camera.

wow, thanks for all the advice.. i still havnt decided on what i am going to get, but i will let you all know. i read on one of the review sites that the konica minolta x31 has poor image quality.. although i havnt looked much is there a site that shows full rez pics from different cameras, esp. this one? i would really like to see how the image quality is, since it doesnt just matter on pixels and size, etc.
