Sorry, this might seem like a dumb question...My friend just got a ipod mini and she has a pc but no firewire or usb2 connection on it. How should she go about syncing her ipod?

She can use USB 1 to connect the iPod. It's a lot slower than USB 2, but it gets the job done.

Alternatively, she could get a Firewire and/or USB2 card to increase the speeds she uploads her music. But it will work without it. If there is no USB cable supplied with the iPod mini, you can buy one.

I think the ipod mini comes with a usb 2.0 cable. Does a usb 2 cable fit into a usb 1 port?

Yes, you cannot distinguish neither the connectors nor the cables.
