hi all,

i bought a mini in february and last weekend it came down with a major static problem. i took it to the store and they swapped it out with a new one however, how do i know when this one was made? i want to be sure it's not part of the bad batch. is there a place to check the serial number (and thus get a manufacture date) to confirm i didn't get another lemon?

thank you big.

Check this link :

Enter the serial number and it will give you all the info you need about your Apple product, such as production date ...

wow, it shows that:
Name: iPod Mini (First model)
Model: M9160 iPod Mini Silver
Factory: 2X
Production year: 2004
Production week: 36 (September)
Production number: 121 (within this week)

my mini was manufactured this month? holey moley. guess that's as new as it gets.

it means that it is number 121 produced in week 36, that's all. My PB is number 21,000 and something of its week, nothing special, unless you get a number 1
