I'm wondering what eyeTV would do to an iMac G5. If you are capturing a show, I assume your box is going to slowdown significantly.

Anybody try eyeTV on a DP PowerMac with a dedicated drive? Little to no performance hit unless you are doing some heavy duty work in another app?

EyeTV USB here. System activity doesn't affect my EyeTV, or vice versa. It may be because of how I have it set up: 640MB RAM buffer, and my EyeTV archive is on a dedicated 60GB hard drive. This is on a Quicksilver 933 running 10.3.5.

This product is awesome!

hmmmm...

i do have an external 200 GB drive i use for backups (actually sitting right on top of and plugged into the same firewire hub as the eyeTV). i wonder if i should partition it and use that for my eyeTV drive? i don't usually leave it on all the time, but i guess it might be better than taxing the iMac's internal drive.

I tried to put the EyeTV archive on my external drive. The software had hiccups waking up the computer and external for scheduled programs. I ended up going back to the internal for current recordings and offloading TV programs to the external for archiving/storage.
