I remember reading a post here in the last few weeks [months, years] about using smart playlists to automatically synch a smaller capacity ipod with a bigger capacity music library. Searched but did not find.

My scenario:

I have a 40G iPod that auto-synchs to my library [30G worth].

I have a 20 G iPod that I want to automatically synch with the last 18Gs of music in the library without having to manually manage it. [and without losing all my other smart playlists].

Any clever way to set this up with a smart playlist?

Thanks!

If you add a new smart playlist, click off the first box that says "match the following conditions."

Now click the second box and have it says "Limit to 18 gb selected by most recently added." And make sure it's live updating.

I don't have two iPods so I don't know if it will update each one differently. If that is the case then just have it update from that Playlist and no others.

That's the obvious answer - the problem is that if you set the ipod to auto synch to that list only, you lose all your other playlists. Wondering if there's a way around this.
