I've won the aforementioned printer/scanner/copier combo in a contest. The included drivers are 2000/XP only. However, I've found out that it's a Lexmark printer (X5270) with Dell's name simply stamped on it. Since I am crazy, I'm trying to make it work with X. When I click "Set up printers" and select USB, t shows up in the print window, but it says "driver not installed" and the maker menu is grayed out. When I click option for the advanced settings, it actually shows up at the bottom of the menu and says the location is
usb://Dell%20/Photo%20AIO%20922?serial=9WF1K41
I've installed the Lexmark X5270 OS X drivers, but they don't see the printer. I also don't see them in the drop-down menu under "Lexmark".
I've checked out this USB probe and Console for action, but no real information. When I try to print it basically says there is no communication. Yet the printer shows up under Apple System profiler and all three devices (scanner, printer, copier) show up under the USB probe thing.
Anybody have any crazy tips on how to get this thing to work? I need a printer, so it will be frustrating to buy one when I have one that should work. Thanks.
