I'd go for Lacie (good build quality) or OWC (cheap as chips) personally

I just bought a Plextor PX-712 in an external firewire/USB 2.0 enclosure from Best Buy where, after rebate, it is $160

So far so good with Toast---supports the works...

Newegg has this Pioneer Black DVD+RW/-RW Drive, Model DVR-108, OEM for only $86. Just pop it into this black firewire enclosure for another $34. That will give you a kick a$$ looking external DVD burner for just a little over $120.

Here's the specs on the DVD drive:

Write Speed: DVD+R DL 4X,16X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 16X DVD-R,4X DVD-RW, 32X CD-R, 24X CD-RW
Read Speed: 40X CD-ROM, 16X DVD-ROM
Interface: ATAPI / E-IDE
Buffer: 2MB

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!
