Hi all,

I bought an iSight (it's on its way)and would like to know which IM service will work with it? I currently have MSN,Yahoo,AIM and iChat installed. But my friends mostly use MSN and I couldn't find webcam enabled in their preferrences. So does that mean I couldn't use iSight with MSN? Thanks and appreciate all infos!.

I don't think MSN for Mac has the video feature.
Yahoo might be ok though, although personally I didn't like it. iChat is very good however.

iChat is strictly Mac OS X only, although it does just piggy back onto AIM networks, which is why you can talk to any PC user on iChat with text, just as with any other AIM client. Now then, if the PC user happens to have XP along with AIM 5.5 or later, then you can video/audio chat with them on iChat. I have done this occasionally, but it doesn't always work. Might just be firewall issues, who knows? Either way, it's rather hit & miss to say the least..

yahoo will also work, you can open a port to enable super webcam, which will get the fps to around 8 or so. not great, but way better than the 1fps you normally get. can't remember which port offhand. search the forum, i know for certain i have posted it before.

I still cannot get my iSight to work with iChat. I've called Apple tech support. Their solution is to reinstall the OS because there is a problem somewhere. All I get is a black screen when I try to iChat with someone. Works great on my PowerBook G4, but not my G4 Cube. Any ideas, I know there were a few people that had this problem before. Anyone find a solution to it?
