I recently bought a Pioneer DVD-107D from www.macsales.com

macsales.com dvd writer

I put it together properly, I am running toast v 6.0, and I keep getting this error:

“The Drive reported an error:
Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
SENSE CODE = 0x21, 0x02
BUFFER UNDERRUN”

from what I understand.... is the computer not sending the data fast enough to the drive?

I am running on an iBook G4 with 256ram and 40 gig HD, (40 practicaly full now, which is why I bought the dvd burner)

here is what I think might be happening...

the lense on the drive is dirty and I need to buy a cd-dvd cleaner.
firewire does not transfer fast enough for this type of drive? lol I doubt it.
I need more RAM.

other than this, I hope I don't have a bad writer and have to send it back.

I only have Toast 5.2, but there should be an option in the prefs for 6.0 to adjust the size of the disk and RAM caches. Try bumping them up to max and see if that helps.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.
