I really don't like the new keyboards apple has package with their systems for about a year or so now.

I preferred the previous versions that were flatter and had the two usb port on the top left and top right of the keyboard.

Besides eBay is there a place I can find the old keyboard or one similar?

I found this a few months back:

http://matias.ca/tactilepro/index.php

anyone own this?

Is this keyboard supposed to be like the keyboard I'm looking for or is it supposed to be like the old school apple keyboards from the original macintoshs?

For those of you who agree with me about the new keyboards, please tell me what keyboard you use.

Thank you.

i don't like the new keyboards that much either. i'm probably going to get the logitech wired keyboard that is like the one in the MX duo except wired. I've tried it out at the local Office Depot and I like the feel of it.

or maybe something like this:

The link you posted shows a nice keyboard and I think its what you are looking for but $100 is a little nuts. I would suggest going back to ebay as a lot of people never use their original keyboards I bet you can find one of the old ones brand new. If not I like the feel of my logitech wireless KB and mouse.

This thing looks like a keyboard from an ibook or something, worth a look since I do like the feel of the ibook keyboards.

I'm typing this on the Matias Tactile Pro, and it's as great as all the reviews say it is, if a bit clattery. I don't mind that, though. I like having the alternative characters labeled on the keys (that is, what the keystroke produces when you hold down option when striking the key etc.). I love the feel of it. I'm a writer by trade so typing accuracy and comfort are crucial for me, and I've never typed on anything better. The only thing that'd make it better (besides somehow quieting the clatter) would be if they made it in an ergonomically shaped form. That said, I've been typing on it for months now with no twinges in my arms or wrists. It's a great keyboard, but maybe a bit pricey if you're not typing a lot, as I do, but, as I said, it's by far the best keyboard I've ever used.

There are lots of rave reviews out there on the Mac sites (though strangely I could only find one linked on the Matias site itself); here are a couple.

I found them at smalldog for 79 bucks. Still expensive, but I'm a writer, so if it really is that good, I'd go for it.

I just ordered one through smalldog (took two days to get here, I love smalldog). Great keyboard. Like others said in this forum, if you work with others, the noise of the keyboard should be taken into consideration. Other than that, I find that I make a lot less mistypes compared to the Apple Pro Keyboard.

How noisy is it? My ibook makes a lot of noise and i love it!

How to you rate the keyboard you bought as opposed to the one that shipped with your computer? Maybe a nice rating scale from 1 to 10.

As was suggested above by MrForgetable, the IceKey is a very nice keyboard. I switched from my Apple Pro Keyboard, and I will not use anything but the IceKey now. The keys are very much like that of the iBook's. I can't stand the super tall keys of the default Apple keyboard. I can't say enough about how awesome the IceKey is.

You do know that thing's just a repackaged kensington studioboard, right?

right?

Kensington Studioboard

It can be had here for $62 with free shipping.

Unless you really feel like buying from a "mom and pop 3rd party distributor that specializes in producing mac products", I'd just get the studioboard

Actually the layouts are a bit different. Check out the return key and backslash.
