Other than the printing and streaming music feature, isn't this basically an ethernet to wireless adapter?

In other words, if i wanted to add wireless capability to an old powermac or an old non-airport iMac, can't I just use the ethernet port to the computer to give it wireless capability? Assume I have an OSX machine and basestation already. Do I need OSX to configure it or is it all handled via DHCP?

Will these work with ony OS or PC?

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).

You would need an Airport Extreme base station or another Airport Express to do this. And you would need an Airport equipped Mac to do the initial setup. After that, it should work fine. You'd want to connect via WDS and disable DHCP serving on the AXP.
