Can the older 802.11b Airport cards use WPA as the encryption method on an 802.11g network?

I read somewhere that Apple, on a previous update, updated the 802.11b Airport Cards to be able to use WPA?

I have and Airport Express Basestation and an iMac with Airport (802.11b) and a Powerbook with Airport Extreme (802.11g)

I use WPA Personal security on the Basestation and both the iMac and the Powerbook have no problems at all with it.
