I've had great luck with DVD Backup 1.3 in the past with my internal SuperDrive in my Powerbook Ti. I recently purchased a Plextor 712/Firewire drive to speed my burns and save my internal drive.

It burns great, but I've yet to be able to rip a DVD like I did with the internal. It just randomly HANGS, with DVD Backup, MacRipper 2, etc....

ARGH!

Ideas?

It hung after 5mb initially, most recently got to 465mb before it hung... I've also used Fast DVD Copy 2 in the past and it says 1000+ minutes for the read!?!?!

Help!

(addendum) I hooked up the burner only and it ripped fine and fast. Maybe I'll try a Firewire Hub instead of daisy chaining...

I know that to chain firewire hard drives each drive in the chain must be powered, is this similar to what you enconutered?

All my devices are fully powered, so that isn't the issue

Well, purchased a firewire hub and it is still f&ck*d...

I can make a disk image in toast and then rip from that, but I still can't rip from a commercial DVD with Mactheripper on DVDBackup
