My G4 Cube is sitting mostly idle these days, and I figuure it might see better use as a media PC attached to my 27 inch VGA monitor. To do so, Things need to be as hands off as possible from the keyboard/mouse, and I need the ability to have SVideo and Composite inputs at a minimum. Component would be nice to get 480p output from my consoles.
So, what device would work with the G4 Cube to give me these inputs, and what program can I use to display the signals live and full screen?
Control wise, I plan on using an ATI Remote Wonder. DVD wise, I figure the 10.3 DVD player will do fine.

The ATI All-in-wonder is a nice card for this. It goes in your AGP port. There are Firewire and USB devices that are for video in, but they cost much more than the all-in-wonder and do not work as well.

The problem is that I doubt the All in Wonder cards would fit inside the G4 Cube. So most likely the solution I would need is a Firewire solution.
The firewire solutions I have found so far all seem to be geared around video editing and not real time display.

1. There aren't any All-in-Wonders for Mac anymore. There haven't been for years.
2. Even if there were, it wouldn't fit in a Cube.
3. FireWire capture devices don't have Component input.
4. FireWire capture devices have latency.
I'd scrap the idea.

I did come across a firewire input device with component inputs for a decent price, but again it was marketed as a video capture device and thus nothing out of the box would display a live feed.
I'm looking at one of the eyeTV solutions currently here, and possibly a component to VGA converter to just bypass the Mac when using a component input.

I think the only video input for Macs that will give you lag-free video is the AlchemyTV PCI card, but that is only for PowerMacs with PCI slots. I guess you're out of luck.
