Has anybody tried hardwiring their iPod to their car stereo? I have a 97 Honda CR-V, and I would really love to be able to listen to my ipod over the car stereo so that I am not wearing headphones while I'm driving.

Just curious to know if anybody has tried this, and what were the results, and how hard it was, and how long it took....etc....

Also, if you install car stereo for a living, then keep in mind that I am probably not as good at this type of thing as you are, so dumb it down as MUCH as you possibly can for me

Thanks everyone!

Why not just use a tape adapter? I got one at Wal-Mart for $10. If you don't have a tape deck, how about an FM transmitter?
iBook G4: 800mhz, 640mb, 40gb ("Astrid")
iPod: 30gb Photo ("Gordon"), 1gb Shuffle ("Tinker Bell")
For the record: I am female

I don't have a tape deck in the car. It is a radio and CD changer controller.

I have tried the FM transmitter, and I just can't get good reception from it. Is there a trick?

And no, it was not an ad in disguise. If you think so, don't click on the link. Lots of people have links in their signatures. Everyone has a choice of whether or not to follow it

Which FM transmitter did you try? I just bought the iCarPlay by Monster Cable, and it works pretty well. Not as good as a "real" FM station, but the sound quality is perfectly acceptable.

Your signature is empty. You just decided to randomly put an ad link in your message body. Seems fishy to me.
