How much does the shipping and the handling cost? And which is better Ipod support online or on the phone? My ipod won't respond at all and my ipod remote control is broken. I can only hear one side on the earphone plus the wires is coming out. Do I have to separate it if I sent my ipod back? Is that possible? I dont want to spent so much for shipping those two separately. Please reply and thank you in advance.

If it's under warranty, Apple pays for shipping.

Yes it's still on warranty, but it keep on saying I had to pay for the shipping and the handling fee. The ipod warranty is one year right? I bought mine on March. And thanks for replying.

If your iPod is still under warranty, and it's an expensive fix, then let Apple fix it. They do get you pretty bad with the shipping though.
My wife had a 5GB 1st generation iPod which was way out of warranty. The battery life got worse and worse until it died. Also the backlight was very dim for some reason (The dumb iPod is only 3 years old now). Anyway, I sent the iPod into http://www.ipodmods.com. I also sent them my own return shipping label so I could save some money on the shipping costs. AppleCare won't let you do that.
Having a 3rd party company can be a cheap alternative to AppleCare or buying a new iPod. Most of these companies also do color screen Mods, hard drive upgrades, etc.. I like iPodMods.com but there's another company that does the same thing called iPodHQ too.
Here's a picture of my upgraded 5GB iPod:

If you need to get your iPod fixed, always work out all your options first. Hope this helps.

Huh? Why are you paying shipping at all? Apple will send you a pre-paid shipping box right to your house.

I think shipping is included in Apple's out-of-warranty repair costs, too. They always want you to use their shipping containers, to be sure that anything you send them is properly packed.
