I知 getting ready to suggest RAM purchases for some new Macs in a design shop and I知 not sure if 1GB is enough.
Specs:
G5 Tower - 2 x PPC G5 1.8 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 1 x 80 GB - CD-RW / DVD-R
I知 suggesting 1GB for each machine plus the 256MB factory installed. They will be running the following apps:
Acrobat 6 Pro
Illustrator CS
Photoshop CS
Dreamweaver MX 2004
Microsoft Office 2004
QuarkXpress 6.1
Toast Titanium
Extensis Suitcase X1
They do general graphic design work no video or anything weird. Any suggestions on what amount of RAM would be adequate. I know it痴 a subjective question but give it a shot maybe I can find some consensus.
I run most of those apps on a dual G4 with 768mb and they don't feel slow to me, but ram is always the more the better. Just buy what you can afford. 4gb is a bit much but 2, 2.5 is used by many people on these forums.
