I have a new Powerbook and am loving it. The only problem is that I can't transfer music from my old (first model) iPod onto it. Is this because the two are incompatible, or because I'm not enabling sharing somewhere in the Preferences? Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

All iPods work with current Mac hardware.

You cannot copy music from iPod to the Mac by design. Apple is forced to make music file sharing as difficult as possible, as their music store depends upon the large record companies.

There are various solutions available for copying music off the iPod, however.

Thanks for the link. This is a problem that I've been meaning to deal with for months, and now that the election is behind us I can devote some time to "backing up" my iPod.
He can be fixed -- you can't.

Hi again - Just wanted to say thanks for the help. I've just finished the big transfer and am enjoying the peaceful feeling of having all my music consolidated and organized. Ahh! Thanks a ton!
