After a horrible week without being able to print to a Konica/Minolta 2300w, it is going back and we need to get a new on at the office.

What suggestions do you all have?

I looked briefly and saw a cool Samsung that was OS X compatible and was even wireless! While it was only $315, it was just black and white.

How about some suggestions? What is a good color laser to buy that is not expensive and will play nice with OS X?

Thanks!!!

I find the Xerox 6100DN works like a charm - it's color, duplex and networked for $599.

I don't think the samsung has Mac drivers.

Anywho, HP makes excellent laser Printers (bad inkjets).

Lexmark is also good.

Don't get Samsung. While Samsung printers represent outstanding value, Samsung has discontinued support for Mac OS X completely.

Although HP costs more, you can't go wrong with LaserJets. LaserJets work great under Mac OS X (including latest models just released a month ago). I own LaserJet 1160 (paid $300 at Amazon when it was on sales), hooked up to AirPort Extreme Base Station (to its USB port). It prints great wirelessly. Both text and graphics output quality have noticeably improved since LaserJet 1150/1300.

Color LaserJets will cost significantly more though.

I know there's a another thread in this forum talks about Samsung's OS X support, but are you certain about this?

No! I had used two different models of HP Colour Laserjets in my office. Unless you can get someone else to do the maintenance for you (that means including changing toner, or even clearing paper jams), then try to stay away from it. Everytime I change the toner I got toner everywhere (my advice: buy a plastic apron and wear it while you do the toner change), and changing the fuser is a 45 minute job for an inexperience hand.

Samsung made an announcement saying they were discontinuing Mac support.

I second the suggestion of a Xerox printer. They make outstanding products, if not the very cheapest. (Remember, though, that the cheaper the printer, the more you will pay for toner -- a lot more.)

On the website the latest printers say they do not have Mac support.
